Does life sometimes imitate the movies? Do movies have a deeper social impact than we admit, like this one?
There was a movie that came out more than 10 years ago called "Deep Impact". It featured Morgan Freeman as the U.S. President. Now, it may be hard to recollect now, but, back then, people thought that this idea of a black U.S. President was interesting enough, but we were all thinking that, as intriguing as it might be, such a thing will never happen anytime soon, probably not even in our lifetime. Now the thing is, Morgan Freeman did a very good job in that movie of projecting an image of the kind of president we would like to see. Is it possible that this movie helped to pave the way for Obama's election by subliminally planting into our minds the positive image of a black president?
