Can I sue my ex boyfriend for extortion?

My ex-boyfriend manipulated me for three years. He borrowed a lot of money from me during this time and was mentally and emotionally abusive. I have filed a police report him a week ago but decided not to follow up. I found out that he had a mistress for the past three years and he was using me for money. He still owes me money and I have the police reports showing domestic violence. Can I sue him for extortion? He is an illegal immigrant and I really want him deported.
